Myanmar Kuwait Relations

Diplomatic Relations

– Diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Kuwait was establised on 16 December 1998.
– The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was opened on 7 May 2009 and the Embassy of the State of Kuwait was opened on 24 November 2011 in Yangon, Myanmar until September 2024.

Bilateral visits

– The Kuwaiti delegation led by H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait visited Myanmar from 6 to 8 August 2008.
– Dr. Ismail Khedr Al-Shatti, advisor in the Prime Minister Office of Kuwait visited Myanmr from 24 to 27 August 2008.
– The Myanmar delegation led by U Maung Myint, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affaris, visited Kuwait from 2 to 6 December 2009.
– The Kuwaiti delegation led by MP Saleh Ashour, Foreign Affaris Committee Chairman of the National Assembly of Kuwait visited Myanmar from 26 to 30 May 2013.

Bilateral Agreements

– The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Conducting of Bilateral Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affaris of Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Minisry of Foreign Affaris of the State of Kuwait which was signed on 6 August 2008 during the visit of Kuawait Prime Minister to Myanmar.
– The Agreement between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the State of Kuwait for Economic and Technical Co-operation singed on 6 August 2008.
– The Agreement between the Republic of the Union of Myanamr for the Encouragement and Reciporcal Protection of Investments signed on 6 August 2008.
– Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Kuwiait Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed on 6 August 2008.

Bilateral Meetings

– The first meeting of Foreign Office Consulations btween Myanmar and Kuwait was held in Kuwait in August 2010.
– The Myanmar side proposed to host the 2nd Myanmar-Kuwait bilateral consultations meeting in Myanmar on mutually convenient date.

Bilateral Trade

– In 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, the trade volume between Myanmar and Kuwait reached UU$ 4.612 million. Myanmar export to Kuwait amounted to US$ 4.611 million whereas the imports from Kuwait reached US$ 0.001 million.
– In 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, the main export products from Myanmar to Kuwait are Fish, Various shoes, Dried Fish, Pelun, Prawn and Garment. Main imported from Kuwait to Myanmar is Consumer Goods.
